Lynn Kelly was
born and raised in the town of Salmon Arm in south central B.C. Her
initial pursuit of a career in construction eventually landed her in Toronto
where, in 1992, desperate for a creative outlet, Lynn finally began to
paint.
Working on Arches 140 lb
cold press paper or canvas, she employs watercolours, acrylics and oils.
Her works are bold flamboyant portrayals that uplift and inspire
the viewer. Bursting with passion and energy, the kaleidoscope of
images employ the harmony of design and the vitality of colour.
After obtaining a certificate
in Fine Art from Sheridan College in Oakville, Lynn continues learning
through courses at the Toronto School of Art as well as workshops with
well known local and international artists. She is a member of Visual
Arts Ontario, the Central Ontario Art Association, Humber Valley Art Club,
and Neilson Park Creative Centre. Lynn is a founding member of the
Woodstream Watercolour Group and an Associate member of the Canadian Society
of Painters in Watercolour.
Regularly participating in
group shows, she has held solo exhibitions, received awards in open shows
and consistently has her work accepted in Juried Shows locally and internationally.
Lynn’s work is held in government and corporate collections in Ontario
and private collections world wide. Her work is available through
her studio in North York and the Westmount Gallery in Etobicoke.
“My work is a series of
realistic yet fractured images. In a chaotic world of too much stress
and not enough time, our fractured lives contain beautiful passages if
we but look. I take the everyday things that give me pleasure and
translate them into compositions as varied as nature itself. By putting
more emphasis on the beautiful passages I intend to show people it is possible
to live their lives on a loving and harmonious level and relegate the broken
dreams to the shadows of their existence.”
